Velvet
Velvet is a 6/7-year-old long-haired black female, she is neutered and microchipped.

We called Velvet Velvet to reflect what she will be, not what she is now, if we’d named her on her current appearance, she’d be called Baldy, Patch or as she was described yesterday Poodle. Poor little Velvet is a lovely cat that has fallen on hard times and ended up in a bit of a state.

Velvet had lived on the same estate for several years, the people who handed her in can remember seeing her a few years ago, sleek and cared for cheekily calling for a snack even though it was obvious she had a home, they can remember on one occasion she had a shaved patch on her front leg where a drip had been, proof that somebody cared.

They noticed over the past year or so that Velvet was looking more and more unkempt and was coming regular as clockwork for food, they put up posters asking if she belonged to anyone, put a collar on her with a phone number, took her to the vets to check for a chip, all to no avail, Velvet had obviously been left.

We took Velvet from them and tried to sort out her matted coat, our clippers wouldn’t even make an impression she was that bad, she ended up having to go to the vets and be shaved, she also had a back tooth out but apart from that and a new hairstyle described so eloquently as a poodle cut she is fine.

Velvet is now looking for a new home, one that can look past her current appearance and see what she will be when her fur grows back, she also wants someone who will brush and maintain her coat, she doesn’t want to end up in a state again.

Velvet isn’t keen on other cats so needs a home on her own, she is also a little timid at the moment so she’s not suitable to be with small, noisy children, she’s been through a lot and needs to settle so someone quiet with patience is a must.
