Mac and Bro
Mac and his brother Bro ( I see what you did there foster mum Linda) came into our care along with their sisters Tammy and Buffy from a farm when they were just wee tots, with mum Evie coming along too of course. Tammy and Buffy went off in the second week of November to their new family and have settled very well. Although the cats on that farm are very well fed and a couple of people take a real interest in them and treat them well, some of the adults are still really timid while others are quite the opposite. Evie falls into the first category and as a couple of her kittens were beginning to copy her less than friendly behaviour it seemed wise to take her back to the farm once she was spayed and health checked to keep her babies understanding that they had nothing to fear. Evie was welcomed back at the farm by both her cat and human friends and is settling back down again very well. Of the four kittens, Mac is the most confident with the others tending to follow his lead, because if Mac does it it must be okay - right? Ever since he began to toddle, Mac's always been the first to run and greet their foster mum, Linda, with one of his hobbies being to help out as much as possible. He particularly likes to supervise the cleaning out of the litters trays from his favourite vantage point on Linda's back. It's even more fun when Bro joins in with Mac explaining the proceedings. It's just as well he isn't human or he'd probably go into politics and have the rest of us enthusiastically following whatever daft idea he came up with next. He's also a bit of a knee hugger and snuggle bug, soon joined by Bro and the girls once he's cleared the way. In a new home, Bro would be the one who would need more time to feel safe and confident in new surroundings with new people but it would only take a bit of time and patience (and Mac!) and all would be just fine. A home with older, gentle, children would be okay but not with young children as their natural exuberance can be overwhelming for kittens (and not just kittens, eh?). The same thing goes for dogs -in fact, the perfect home would have these two wee charmers as the only pets, being given and loving all the attention and cuddles. Once they're old enough and extremely well settled, and we're talking months with young kittens and not weeks, the boys would love the chance to explore their surroundings so a home away from busy roads is definitely a must. Like their sisters Tammy and Buffy, Mac and Bro are now fully vaccinated and microchipped, but they aren't yet old enough or big enough to have their neutering operations, and as it's vitally important to ensure these ops are carried out we provide a form to be completed by the vet and returned to us once they have been.
