8 Lives Cat Rescue
Rehoming Cats & Kittens: Derbyshire & South Yorkshire
Little Hanne arrived in rescue aged 6-7 weeks old.  Ours was at least the fourth home she'd lived in.  One of our previous adopters had spotted her being given away on social media and rushed to get her to safety.  The people giving her away had only had her a few days.  It could have been really unsettling for some kittens, but Hanne bounced into rescue full of mischief and ready to make friends.  A couple of our resident boy cats, one in particular, have taken her under their wings and play with her and clean her,  Some of the others have explained the need to back off and she's had a well aimed slap from one or two of them.

She's been vaccinated and microchipped.  No ongoing health issues though she was poorly with a virus early on.  She's not big enough to be neutered yet but neutering is a condition of adoption and she must be done before she's 6 months old.  Until then she'll need to stay securely indoors.  After that she will enjoy having a safe garden to explore ... well away from any busy roads.  For safety reasons, we strongly recommend that all cats are kept indoors during hours of darkness, with access to an indoor litter tray at all times.

Hanne will probably settle happily into any home where there are people around to make a fuss of her and play quite a bit of the time.  We are also looking for a home where there is another friendly playful cat (or two .. or three) as she loves the company of others,  She hasn't had contact with children whilst in rescue, but her purrsonality suggests that she'd get along fine with children who are able to treat animals with respect.

All our adoptions come with 5 weeks free insurance.

We always homecheck prior to adoption and ask a minimum donation of £80 .

There’s more about our adoption process here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html and there's info about how we've adapted the process in light of Covid here: https://8livescatrescue.com/2020/11/21/adapting-and-adopting/  We currently using a blend of the pre and post covid processes depending on circumstances and preferences.

You’ll find some more photos and stories about our cats on our blog: https://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/ and facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/8Lives/

Please note that although we are listed on Cat Chat in both South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, we only rehome in Sheffield and just over the border into Derbyshire.
