8 Lives Cat Rescue
Rehoming Cats & Kittens: Derbyshire & South Yorkshire
Walter came to us after living rough in someone's garden for about 5 weeks .... we've no idea of course how long he'd been straying before then.  He's a very personable young man though and managed to persuade a group of neighbours to fix him up with food and an outdoor shelter until he had somewhere better to move on to.  Sadly it wasn't possible to find his previous owners and we suspect that, like many young cats, he was left once he was no longer a cute kitten.

He's a friendly chap but not in your face sort of friendly.  He likes to give little head bumps and paws your arm for attention.  Living rough must have been hard for him and he's taken life quite seriously since he arrived in rescue.  He slept and slept at first, making the most of finally feeling safe enough to properly relax.  It was only after a few weeks that he remembered that he was still a kitten and started to play again.

He's had some interaction with other cats here and enjoys their company, though he's quite a big lad and gets a bit much for the other youngster he's been playing with.  He's not had contact with children whilst in rescue, but there's nothing about his behaviour that suggests that he wouldn't get along ok with sensible children who know how to treat animals with respect,

Walter has been neutered and microchipped and is due to finish his course of vaccinations this week.  The vet check found him to be healthy and a year old at most.

He'd probably be happy in most kinds of families where he had some attention and some space to go off and do his own thing.

Walter will need to be kept securely indoors for at least a month, until he's settled, but after that he will probably enjoy having access to a safe garden, well away from any busy roads.  The strongly advise that all cats are kept indoors during hours of darkness.  It's safer  for them and for local wildlife.

All our adoptions bring 5 weeks free insurance through Agria.

We always homecheck prior to adoption, and ask a minimum donation of £90 for each adult neutered cat.. There’s more about our adoption process here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html and there's info about how we've adapted the process in light of Covid here: https://8livescatrescue.com/2020/11/21/adapting-and-adopting/
