8 Lives Cat Rescue
Rehoming Cats & Kittens: South Yorkshire & Derbyshire
Hamish came to us after having been adandoned when someone moved out of their flat.  Sadly this happens to so many cats, owners may be unable to find other accommodation that will accept pets, but some don't even try.  Fortunately a kind neighbour spotted Hamish, made enquiries and took him indoors to safety until he could be found a rescue space.

Sadly he was adopted a month ago and settled really happily into what he hoped would be his foreverhome, only to find that one of the family had allergies so he's been unable to stay.

He's only a youngster, the vet estimated him to be about a year old.  He was very withdrawn when he arrived here but has gradually come out of his shell and now loves to play and have a fuss.  The fussing needs to be on his terms though and he's happy to tell you when he's had enough.

Hamish has been neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.   Health check revealed no issues, though his tummy has been a bit unsettled.  He's currently managing well on a hypoallergenic diet.  He may need to continue this for a while or indefinitely depending on how things settle down.

He'd probably be best in a fairly quiet home where any kids are old enough to understand that he needs his space and time to settle properly.  It's not been possible to introduce him to children whilst in rescue due to covid.   He's had a room to himself in rescue and has not been happy when he's spotted other cats outside his door, so he may be best being an only cat.

He'll need to be kept securely indoors for at LEAST A MONTH on arrival in his new home.  After that, and when he's more confident, he may enjoy having a secure garden to explore, well away from any busy roads.  We do require adopters to keep cats indoors during hours of darkness though ... for their own safety and that of local wildlife .. and to have access to an indoor litter tray at all times.

All our adoptions bring 4 weeks free insurance through Pet Plan.

We always homecheck prior to adoption, and ask a minimum donation of £80 for each adult neutered cat.. There’s more about our adoption process here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html and there's info about how we've adapted the process in light of Covid here: https://8livescatrescue.com/2020/11/21/adapting-and-adopting/

You’ll find some more photos and stories about our cats on our blog: https://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/ and facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/8Lives/

Please contact us at [email protected] if you're interested in adopting him.  Please only contact us if you're sure that you're able to offer him a stable loving forever home.  This poor boy has had more than enough disruption in his short life.
