Maisie And Otis
Maisie and her nephew Otis are looking for a loving home together.

Three months ago we were called out by a lovely couple who were desperate to find help for a family of cats who were living in their garden. After months of trying to get help from countless well known charities a friend gave them our number. We were told they had a mother cat and her three 7-month-old kittens living in their garden and they were very concerned as one of the kittens was heavily pregnant. We went straight over to trap the family of cats as we did not want an inexperienced 7-month-old kitten giving birth in a garden without someone closely monitoring her.

The pregnant kitten fell ill with severe mastitis just a couple of days after giving birth to three beautiful kittens, as a result of this she was unable to feed or care for her them. Fortunately, her sister Maisie’s strong maternal instincts kicked straight in (despite never having her own kittens!), she even started producing her own milk! Maisie reared her sister’s three kittens as her own and has done the most fantastic job. She is one of the most devoted mother cats we’ve seen in a long time. The kittens are now 12-weeks of age and two have been adopted by a friend of Rosemary’s who absolutely adores them.

Otis is a gorgeously friendly and playful kitten who is besotted with his Auntie/Mum Maisie. He has been regularly handled since birth and has been brought up in a home environment so is very happy to be handled. Unfortunately, as Maisie was born in a garden she didn’t get the socialisation she needed as a kitten and is very nervous, especially of new people.

As Otis is so affectionate and confident he really helps bring Maisie out of her shell and the pair are always playing exciting games together. Maisie calls for Otis whenever he goes out of sight and he always comes running straight back!

Though Otis is so bold and friendly, Maisie has never had a loving home so she will need months of understanding, patience and TLC. Because of this we are looking for a sensitive, adult-only home where Maisie’s new human companion(s) are happy to put in the time and love she so desperately needs. We believe in the right home Maisie will flourish into a very sweet and playful cat. She is only a kitten herself and already been through so much in her short life.
