Rehoming Cats & Kittens: London (West) & London (East)
Khombisa is a Southern African word meaning 'seven' because she was the owner's seventh cat. The cat's owner died recently which is why she needs re-homing. From those whom she trusts, she will accept gentle stroking around the head and cheeks. She is unsure about being stroked elsewhere and doesn’t like her tummy being touched. Although she is a little timid and wary of strangers, I have been able to pick her up a couple of times. Sudden movements and noise startle her and when startled she can lash out; this is out of fear and not malice.

The owner lived alone and was very patient and gentle with her. He learned to let her approach him for petting rather than go to her. Visitors were encouraged to let her sniff their hands several times before interacting with her. She would sleep on his bed with him and did come to lie on his lap after a period of about a year of being with him.  He bought her from a family where she had access to the outdoors as a kitten although he lived in a first floor flat where she did not have immediate garden access. She has many toys, but likes to play with random objects best of all, from boxes to bottle tops and she uses a scratching post.

Khombisa would suit a calm household with patient, experienced cat owners who would let her do her catty business quietly in the background and a safe garden where she can go if that’s what she chooses to do. She would come with plenty of food wet and dry, a cat carrier, bowls, litter box and toys.
