We are looking for a very special forever home for Batman - just look at that face, who could resist him, and guess why he is called Batman! He has come from a lovely home but, very sadly, his owner has been forced to part with him due to her ill-health. He is short-haired, black and white, approximately eight to nine years old, has been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated against Feline Infectious Enteritis, Cat Flu and Feline Infectious Leukaemia. As part of his health check Batman had a routine blood test and he tested positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Years ago this would have resulted in him having to be put to sleep but thankfully veterinary medicine and research has come on in leaps and bounds and it is now known that FIV is no longer the death sentence it was once thought to be and most cats go on to live long and happy lives. FIV is infectious to other cats but it is very difficult to pass on and this is usually done by a deep penetrating bite. FIV CANNOT be passed on to humans, dogs or other animals. He is very healthy and has recently had a full dental.
Bagman is a big softy and a very affectionate cat who loves being fussed so he will make someone a lovely companion. He’s quite a gentle soul but cats getting used to each other can sometimes come to blows so, due to his FIV status, we are looking for an indoor home or a home with a cat-secure garden, and no other cats unless they are also FIV positive. He should be okay with children but we don’t know what he is like with dogs.
If you think you could offer Batman a home and would like to know more about him or his FV status, please give us a ring on 0116 288 2014. If you get the answerphone, please leave a message with your name and contact number and we will call you back as soon as we can. You can find more information about FIV via this link www.catchat.org/index.php/fiv which is well worth reading. Many thanks.
