Cassandra and Pandora
*** A SPECIAL APPEAL FOR A HOME ***
Cassandra and Pandora are 9 month old sisters, who were born in someone’s garden. They are two out of three, as their sister has been adopted by the property owner, while only feeding the two remaining girls. They both got pregnant as soon as they were 4 months old, and being so young, their babies died. They then got pregnant again straight away. Cassie came to us with one kitten. Dora had two, but one of them died in our care. Far too young and with barely any milk, meant pointless tragedies and needless suffering by being harassed by a hoard of local Tom cats and giving birth outside in fear for their own lives.
We got them in our care and they are safe now. Both girls have now been neutered and microchipped, and of course tested for FIV/FeLV viruses (thankfully they are negative).
What’s next for them? They are not keen on humans at all as they haven’t been handled. They come to us for food and they are not scared of us, but that’s about it.
Would there be anyone out there willing to adopt these two? They will be hard work and it will take months to gain their trust. They are definitely only suitable for experienced and dedicated cat people.
We absolutely don’t want to put them back to the garden where they came from. They don’t even know what winter is! Their lives would be wasted and we really don’t want to do this to them. In fairness, we also don’t want to entrust them with someone overly emotional but with no experience, as they are likely to loose them, and it will be impossible to catch them again.
This is a special appeal as we are in a desperate situation. Thy are taking up valuable space at our rescue.
The girls are free, we won’t ask for any money for them. We just want them to be safe and cared for.
They are healthy, they come with veterinary history and 4 weeks free pet insurance and microchip registration. They have been flea and worm treated with veterinary grade products. We won’t be vaccinating them as we can’t afford yet another expense, this will be down to their adopter, (but we can absolutely help with holding them and we would offer our charity discount if our vet is being used).
Cassie and Dora are good with other cats, they are clean and they use the litter tray. They are not suitable for a home with children. They can be indoor cats, or they can be free roaming, providing that the adopter understands the this will significantly slow down the process of taming them. Farms and stables are an option, but they are semi long haired, and that’s a bit of an issue as their fur may get matted.
They are absolutely gorgeous, healthy and they’ve been living indoors for a month now, and they are desperate to have a home of their own.
Cassie and Dora are being fostered in Watford.
