Elsie and Molly
Thank you for looking at one of our wonderful Rescue Remedies cats! We hope that this brief profile will give you a little bit more information about how you can offer one or more of our cats a home for life.
We are a small, independent rescue run by a small team of staff and lots and lots of volunteers who all are passionate about rescuing animals. We offer rescue spaces to cats from all walks of life – some come from council pounds having been found stray, others from families directly who can no longer keep them, some via social services, and nearly all have very sad stories. We have an army of Cat Cuddler volunteers who love our cats to pieces and spend hours chatting to them, stroking them and socialising them, so that they are ready to be cherished in their new homes.
Molly and Elsie's story: Molly and Elsie have been passed around a few different families on a housing estate in East London. They are a young female pair, aged 2-3, and not from the same litter. They lived with the family who surrendered her to our care for about a year - the owners were emigrating back to their home country and surrendered the cats to us. Molly and Elsie had never been to a vet, neither were neutered or vacccinated, and Molly had a litter of kittens in January 2025 who had all been given away to "friends" before Molly was relinquished to us. Worryingly, the owners told us that Elsie was a male cat (so they had been keeping what they thought was a male and female unneutered pair together....). When we took Elsie to the vet to have "his" neuter op, our vet confirmed that "he" is a "she" and spayed her instead! Both girls have had a really tough time, and were quite significantly underweight on joining us. Molly and Elsie arrived with us on 16 March 2025.
About Molly and Elsie now: The girls have found their paws in our rescue and are wonderful cats who yearn to have a forever home where they will be properly looked after. Molly is the more confident of the two and loves a lap to sit on and lots of cuddles, whereas Elsie takes her time to devide if she approves of someone or not! Neither are aggressive or hissy, and really enjoy having visitors, especially if treats are involved :)
Microchipped – yes
Spayed/neutered – yes
Vaccinated – Being undertaken March/April 2025
Full rescue back-up for life - yes
What kind of home Molly and Elsie need: Molly and Elsie have lived in family environments, and we feel they could manage living with cat-savvy, patient children, and other cats. The girls have always been house cats (lived in a high rise tower block in London) so can be homed to an indoor-only home, or might like to have garden access when the time is right. They will need a new owner who will give them the time they will need to settle in - so much has changed for them recently and it may take them a little bit of time to start to trust again. Both girls are starting to eat well and need to put on a bit of weight, so their new family will need to have snacks and good food at the ready!
We home our cats NATIONWIDE and have been as far as Guernsey for the right family for one of our cats! The very first step is to head to our website and complete the Homing Enquiry form. The Homing Team will then be in touch with you if you are a match for one of our cats. The link to our Homing Form is here: Rescue Remedies Cat Adoption Form
