Everything crossed you can get her to eat. Our vets will sometimes give you something to help with their appetite so it’s worth looking at all options. Do keep us updated.

Re: Kidney disease- when is it time?

Thank you for the welcome and for the reply. I am in the US, I haven’t tried other foods, just the treats. Hi, yes definitely try other foods, it’s important they eat something otherwise they can downhill, and preferably not just treats! Does she like cat milk? if she can tolerate cat milk or lacto...

Re: Anaemic cat

Hi, I don’t have any experience of cats with anaemia unfortunately, though someone may. Have your neighbours tried a different vets, a second opinion? I personally would try and get the pills down as I would have thought it’s important he takes them. If they can’t be disguised in food/drink then cou...

Re: Kidney disease- when is it time?

Hi and welcome. So sorry that your little girl isn’t well. I’ve had a few oldies with CRF and it can be difficult to tell when the time is to say goodbye. If she’s not eating at the moment that won’t help, have you tried lots of different foods? You don’t say where you are from, if you’re in the UK ...

Hi and welcome. I’ve just had a quick read over your post as I’m out shortly, but it’s difficult to say what could be wrong, it could be health or behaviour so best to get a check up. Also if you check out this link below there’s lots of advice which may be helpful to you as a new cat owner: https:/...

Hi Lauren and welcome. I’m no expert on cat coats either unfortunately so can’t help you there - but just wondered - will you be getting mum spayed now? This is a rescue site and there’s so many cats and kittens needing homes it’s really sad to see them all. I hope you can get the male sorted too ot...

Re: My cat has recently been attacked, will he return?

Hi and welcome. So sorry about your poor cat, I hate to see dogs chasing cats and have witnessed this quite a few times where I live. Without going into details I actually had one of my own cats killed by a dog and one of my ferals, so it’s definitely a sore point with me and I don’t blame the dogs ...

Re: Adopting a Cat

She has been curious about the garden watching me go out the back door and and I know I am supposed to keep her in for 4 weeks but decided to let her out this morning - she ventured up the side of the house and eventually into the back garden were she ate a lot of grass. I kept very close to her in...

Re: Adopting a Cat

Glad to hear Mia is safely home. I am sure she’ll be fine (when she realises she’ll be spoilt rotten lol :D ) Just a thought about her being sick, it could be the stress of it all but I know a lot of cats that can’t eat Dreamies so would be worth keeping an eye on that. My own cat can’t eat them, an...

Re: My cat is now crazy about going outside

Hi and welcome. It could be a hairball that he’s trying to get rid off, cats will eat grass if that’s the case and this time of year I’ve seen my own cat eating grass, and the ferals are eating more and bringing up furballs. I would also get a vet a trip and if he’s wanting to go out and it’s safe t...

Hi and welcome. It’s great that you’re putting so much effort into getting a cat or two :) All cats are different but I think if you can afford to adopt two kittens together, then that would be a great idea. They will be company for each other and when you are in you will have a cat each! When we st...

Re: Poo or sick?

We did consider that. Is there normally a bit of sick with the furball? Makes sense i suppose. She is short-haired and groom her but can still visibly see loose fur after! Seems never-ending. Is there anything else we can do to help her prevent them? Yes there will likely be sick with it as well. I...

Re: Poo or sick?

Is it a furball? they’re poo shaped but look more like sick sometimes obviously fur other times not and sometimes a bit watery with them especially if puss is trying to get them up. When I first came across a furball I was the same, now I can tell. My own cat and the ferals have had a few recently, ...

Hi, so sorry for what happened to your cat, how cruel. Regarding enclosing your garden, I think that’s a good idea, as he must be upset at having to be confined now. There’s a few threads on here, and people who have successfully catproofed their gardens. Here is one thread I’ve found that may be he...

Re: Not using Litter box like she used to

I agree with Kay, it does sound like either of those to me too. With hyperthyroidism everything works faster - hyper, so she could be restless, more vocal and use the tray more/not as she should etc. I’ve actually had it myself and it can take a while to be picked up because thyroid hormones vary so...

Hi and welcome. It is a bit of a difficult one but here’s a few suggestions. Cats love freshly dug earth so yep it’s trying to put them off that area, or encouraging them to poo elsewhere. Erecting chicken wire round the patch, or some sticks close together as cats lose interest if they’ve to keep t...

I would ring round all the rescues in your area, I’m sure that one will have a trap you can loan. it’s in their interests to help you out otherwise they could have more than 4 to sort out soon - you could remind them of that maybe ;)
