porridge for cats?
porridge for cats?
My 18 month old cat goes mad for porridge, sometimes I give him a small amount, is it really bad for him?

depends what's in it I suppose. Oats and milk whilst not ideal are OK but the added sugars are not good

Re: porridge for cats?
Willow loves porridge! Mind you she also loves rice pudding, custard and ice cream.
It's a milk thing. I know a lot of it it is not good for them, but it's the best way I know of getting medicine into a cat!
I had porridge this morning, oats, milk and a little (proper) honey. Willow had a licky licky of an almost empty bowl. If I had been a bit quicker off the mark I could have put her Metacam in it - job done!

I let Lily lick out the dregs in the bowl for a treat. In very small quantities it does no harm, unless your puss is one of those who is lactose intolerant.

Thanks for the replies (first time I've done this), Dougie doesn't have any sugar on, so I think I'll keep letting him have a little bit now and again.

Tig loves porridge too, he's allowed to lick the bowl as a treat too
I add dried fruit to mine so make sure I've never add raisins as they're toxic to cats.
