Re: Ooooops ...... one more foster!
Isn't it funny how they soon come running when we call them, even if they have been 'on the streets ' and fending for themselves for a long time, i never knew their original names ( must have had one at some point as both quite old), both Phoebe and Luca the clipped ear one appear within a minute of me calling them, but perhaps its food like you say .

Re: Ooooops ...... one more foster!
It certainly is food with Pugwash, but he did get the hang of coming when called PDQ!
It really must have been a huge adjustment for him to make when he came here. I went to see where he lived as a stray, and it is several blocks of flats on an estate, so basically just a car park, grass and some hedges/shrubs. I've seen him sitting in the shrubbery to keep out of the rain here, and he's barely used the litter tray recently and in the last couple of days he's got the hang of asking to go out. I do think that part of the reason that he's so much happier since he's been able to go out is that his world here now looks a bit more like 'the world' as he knows it.

Re: Ooooops ...... one more foster!
It's been really heartwarming to watch Pugwash really look settled and happy over the last couple of weeks. He's found a spot in the garden to keep an eye on us whilst we've been working in the garden over the weekend, though I'll have to break the news to him that it's not a permanent fixture!

And, after a few evenings when we did think he was considering it, tonight he's finally claimed his dad's lap, or at least part of it. OH has been stuck on the sofa for a good couple of hours as he didn't dare move!

Aww do so love Puggy
them there ladders look bright and shiny, are they new? if step ladders, could fashion a wigwam type frame out of them, throw an old sheet over them and puggy pugwash could shade from mid-day sun...could even go the full hog and stencil the skull and cross bone ...
ps Crewella, you take photos like me, never have other halfs head on them...
i managed it at both daughters wedding photographs...
...but close up of mogs....

Re: Ooooops ...... one more foster!
What great photos Helen
That is one settled and very happy boy. He's doing great with his weight. Glad he's getting more affectionate and learning that laps are nice places to be. What a transformation!! He probably thinks you are very kind to put those ladders there just for him

Re: Ooooops ...... one more foster!
We've had our ups and downs, but I'm so pleased we took Pugwash on, it's been soooooo worth it. Seeing him looking so happy after all he's been through makes me smile every time I look at him.
I'm also really pleased that he's bonding so well with his dad, he definitely seems to prefer OH. Daz and Merrick are both definitely mummy's boys and have claimed my lap, and Basil too on the rare occasions he fancies some lap time. Grumpy Nellie is daddy's girl but doesn't do laps, and we lost old Minnie (the other daddy's girl) last year, soo poor OH has been lacking a lap warmer in the last few months!
Nanny, those ladders are a few years old .... just rarely used!
And with the pics I think we have our priorities right! My best mate is just as bad, he has no idea what any of his neighbours are called, but he does know the names of every cat in his street!
:P

I don't know many of my neighbours either but I have nicknames for all the cats in the street! There's Legwarmer Larry, Acrocat, Mr Fluffy Knickers to name but a few!!

They must be good nicknames, because I now have a picture in my mind of all three of them!

Re: Ooooops ...... one more foster!
Acrocat lives in a 3 storey townhouse opposite my house, everyday it leaps from the garden fence one storey up, through a Juliette balcony railing onto a small window/door ledge which is about 3 inches wide to get inside (there is a door downstairs!) and never misses!

Wow, that's one adventurous (and indeed acrobatic) cat!
He won't be needing this, then!

Re: Ooooops ...... one more foster!
I realised that I'd not posted an update on Pugwash recently, he's been pushed into the background by the arrival of Greebo - another desperate cat come in from the cold and starting on the road to recovery. Poor old Pugwash, I thought. And then I realised that that's the whole point, and the best update I can give.
Six months from when he came to us, Pugwash is no longer a sad case, or a project, or a heartwarming story - he's now just an ordinary and much loved cat and member of my gang, alongside Grumpy Nellie, Merrick, Daz and Basil. I'm sure he'll get a mention from time to time on the forum, but this thread has done its job and I will stop updating it.

I have also loved this thread
We all feel like we've come to know this little guy. Not so little now though!! Can't believe it's been six months. He looks so calm and settled in that pic as if he's always lived with you. Well done Helen. And thanks for letting us share this experience. Lots of fusses to the gorgeous Pugwash Xxx

You're right, I should have done before and after pics, so here they are:
Day 1 This evening: And thanks to you all too, I'm still very new to fostering and it's been a real help to have the support, especially when things weren't going right, and to have somewhere to sound off and share the ups and downs. xx
