limp tail

hi, my cat Scooby who has ckd and doing brilliantly, has just came in ewith a limp tail? there isn't any cuts or swelling, does anyone know what could cause this? and would I need to bring her to vets for treatment? thank you in advance. dean

Hi Dean, sorry to hear that.

It's hard to say. Is it absolutely immobile or can she lift it at all? Does she seem in pain if you touch her back or the tail? Certainly doesn't sound like a break; there would a be a lot of pain and swelling. Personally I'd be tempted to ring the vet and ask their advice as to whether they think she should be seen (little devils, they always do this kind of thing at a weekend don't they?)

Best to get your mind put at rest; I once had a kitten who shot up a ceiling-high bookcase, fell off and ended up with an instant fat foreleg. At the weekend of course. I rang the emergency vet; he asked some questions and said, keep an eye on it but bring her in on Monday if there's no improvement. There was; it was nothing but a sprain and improved by itself; hope Scooby's tail soon starts to wave again :)

hi Lilith thank you for reply. im afraid scoobys tail has become a bit swollen, so im of to emergency vet to get it looked at. yes your right Lilith always happens at weekends. I will let you know how it goes. thank-you. dean
