Going on holiday...

I always have mixed feelings, I want to go but feel bad as I know my cat will miss me so much and I worry as he doesn't eat well if I'm not around. I have a cat sitter coming in twice a day, I will have a light on a timer in the hall, should I have another light or a radio on in the front room for him?

I would leave the radio on that's a great idea.
Also if finances permit you could buy a webcam that connects via an app to your smartphone so u can check what he's up to in the main room he's in for peace of mind x

Hi Gillybean, often wondered who had my name lol.... I'm jillybean29 usually but couldn't use it on here now I know why.
Anyway as previously posted I have used house sitters uk for people to come and Live in and look after my cats and home and garden. It's a free service well vetted and safe. We had a wonderful Aussie retired couple come and stay for two weeks which enabled us to have a stress free holiday, they were also sending me emails and photos of our cat and he was as happy as us and extremely pampered. We intend to do it again next year. You choose who is suitable and can meet on Skype etc to get to know each other . We came home to a very tidy house and Garden and a chilled out happy big cat. Hope this helpsx

The thing is, he is a really nervous cat and doesn't take kindly to strangers, he's not friendly and has been know to attack people and he doesn't like men, maybe something happened when he was a kitten I don't know, its a great idea though if you have social cats. I just worry about him being lonely, she will send me photos and if I had a camera I would be checking constantly and if I saw him pacing or crying I would get upset.

Such a dilemma my hubby thinks I am mad as I will be crying as we leave tomorrow with what should be a happy time.
