hi,
we have 3 cats, all are just over 2 years old, 2 are twins that we got from an rspca rescue & we got the 3rd a few days later from an add on gumtree.
all was fine for the first year, but during the past 12 months we noticed that the twins tended to stick to themselves & that crumble appeared a little isolated.
over the past 6 months we have come down most mornings to find wee patches & more recently she does it 3 or 4 times a day, even while we're in the same room & we've found her doing it in the fruit bowl - all in all we love all 3 but are really struggling to manage this problem & with 4 kids in the house are concerned about rectifying the problem.
we've read about various products, does anyone one on here have any advice?
all help would be very much appreciated!
many thanks all.

Re: stressed cat spraying
I have the same problem with my cat Jet, she will be 12 next week. It started about 12 months ago when she started spraying on the kitchen worktop. This has since developed and she recently started spraying against the electric cupboard in the downstairs hall, on the floor in the dining room and a few weeks ago I discovered she had been spraying against the side of the duvet in the spare bedroom - I had to dump this. She has also peed on my flip flop - which I usually wear around the house after I have a shower.
I spoke to the Vet and had her examined for urinary tract problems which was clear. What the issue seems to be is my neighbours cat being in the garden and at the back door as I was feeding the cat as they didn't bother. The vet told me to keep the cat out of my cats territory and the spraying should ease - it hasn't as my cat looks out the bedroom window and she sits on the kitchen worktop looking out the window.
I purchased Feliway spray plug in but it has not solved the problem totally - I have it plugged in at the bedroom were she sleeps. I am resigned to accepting this and just try to take precautions to lessen the damage she is doing, using puppy training pads on the kitchen top and blocking access to the electric cupboard with a large plant, and trying to keep her out of the spare bedroom. I have cleaned the areas with soap and water and sprayed surgical spirit to try to get rid of the smell but alas no joy. I think now it is more out of habit that she is doing this - it was a daily occurrence but since I have been using the Feliway it has been reduced to a few times a week and mainly on the kitchen work top.

Re: stressed cat spraying
many tx andymac,
yes we got a feliway & hopefully that'll make a difference - we are also going to separate crumble from the other 2 at night time & hopefully that 6-7 hr break might ease her stress,
will report back!

Re: stressed cat spraying
If a UTI has been ruled out, then it's most probably stress related. Any thing could trigger the spraying; new furniture, a change in routine, strangers in the house like workmen etc. And of course, other neighbourhood cats 'tormenting' yours and encroaching on your cats territory.
Best to try and work out what is causing the stress and looking for ways to fettle it. Meanwhile, the feliway should help.
Good luck
Grace.
