New owner

Post by Flojo75 »

Hi,

I've had some great advice regarding being a new cat owner. Mary advised that I should take the cats scratch post from the seller, however her other cat uses it so she isn't willing to give me it. Do you think the cat will take to a new scratch post. The seller has told me that she doesn't scratch furniture, do you think she will start because she has a new scratch post.
Advice will be greatly appreciated

get one just like her old one, and rub some dried catnip on it - I found when I had a new cat fond of stropping his claws on my leather sofa that putting his scratch post next to his favourite place to do it stopped him

I have never had a cat who stropped on wooden furniture - the most trashed item I have ever had in 40 years of cat ownership was a moroccan leather pouffe, but I suspect it was the smell of goatskin that attracted them - as it repelled me I was quite glad to get rid of it
