Hello there!
I'm brand new her and haven't even done an intro post so please forgive me!
My darling boy was diagnosed with kidney failure on Friday and was given semintra. On the prescription lable it says 1.4mg once a day, yet on the syringe it doesn't give you mg to go by but the cats weight in kg. So I really am unsure of how to measure this! I'm not sure I can phone the vet for advice until Tuesday due to it being a bank holiday.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. He is also on a powder that goes in his food, so would not giving him semintra damage him if he's having the powder also?

My neighbours cat is on that, she is dosed by weight, which are the numbers on the syringe. Vets do have an out of hours service if you wanted a professional opinion

I would ring the surgery, as Desley says, there will be someone there to advise.

The two things shouldn't react with each other. The powders I assume are phosphorus binders? - it isn't a drug - it just binds some of the phosphorus so it isn't absorbed - Semintra stops them losing protein through their urine. One of mine was on it. The measure of the syringe is in Kg body weight (similar to the Metacam syringe) As others have said though, worth a quick call to check.
