Cross your paws - photos at last.

Post by Lilith »

Wow!

Thanks to Yogiboy's photo uploading thread, I think we may have pictures at last!

Here is Emily, 15, doing what any normal cat does in an igloo bed:-

And 5 year old Molly, who, as they say, put a whole new twist on things :o

If I can't sleep, 14 year old Mouse and Shahi my royal python keep me company in bed; normally Shahi goes to sleep on my lap but on this occasion he stuck his head out of the duvet:-

Sizing up Mouse? Not on your life! The minute her paw moved he whipped back under the duvet to safety. Here he is again, during one of those hot summers we used to have, doing his Loch Ness Monster act in the pond:-

Awwwwww, Emily has such a sweet face! And from what I know of your Molly isn't it just typical for her to decide how an igloo should be HER way! :D

From the look on Mouse's face, I think Shahi was very wise to withdraw back under the duvet, but I love the pic of Shahi swimming. I'll try to find a pic of my old Burmese Dutch in the bath. :)

Well done Lilith. So nice to see your gang at last. :D Mouse has the same expression that Bob has when I am trying to photograph his 'cuteness' - 'aw mum leave it out will ya', I'm trying to sleep'.

Thanks all :) I'd love to see pics of the Burmese, Crewella.

I should have mentioned that I rarely let cats and snakes get so close and that a snake is ALWAYS supervised away from its vivarium, but as Mousey was gazing mistily at me (she isn't the sharpest nail in the box, bless her) and Shahi was so still, I thought it safe to take that photo as the camera was to hand. I was surprised when she did take some notice of him; 7 years ago, when he was a baby, both Emily and Mouse used to sit close to the window of his vivarium while he cruised up and down, as fascinated with them as they were with him, but everyone's quietened down since then, although I think Mousey's having her second kittenhood. She lies on the bed and watches her tail and tries to catch it; she bawls at me if tea's late; she won't leave me alone if I'm on the computer; she wants to jump up and explore everywhere...she's been such a quiet well-behaved little thing all her life that I honestly can't remember ever having to tell her off. This means that I'm having to try and get a 14 year old cat to understand the meaning of 'no' ...errm, difficult!

Lilith, my Willow is going through her second kittenhood too. She has taken to chasing her tail again. The other day she was spinning around on the floor and actually caught her tail. She bit it, squealed, glared at me (as if it was my fault) and shot off behind the sofa. Silly girl.

Hi Vivian and thanks ...I used to use Photobucket and did upload some photos on here at first, but when I tinkered about with them I lost photobucket (think spoonerism lol  ) and could never find out how to work it again. To anyone reading who's as frustrated as I was, I tried Yogiboy's second option, uploaded a pic, and found it instantly converted to a usable size, although I don't know how this is done, and though I haven't learned how to crop a picture and save it, or how to get the pic to avatar size, it's definitely a start - there'll be more pics along soon :D

Hi, Bobbys girl - I've lived with loads of 'senior kitizens' but never seen anything like Mousey. It seems to date in her case from the glucosamine/chodroitin I put her on for her creaky joints. But your Willow's at it too? Poor old tail lol! It's lovely to see them revert to kittenhood; Mousey has just started biting and pouncing if I move under the duvet (perhaps in the hope of finding Shahi again - no way!) She's cheeky and far more dominant; she allows Molly to sleep on the bed; whereas she'd have retreated under the bed before, it's Moll who's subservient cat now (won't hurt Moll.) If she carries on like this I'll be hauling her down off the light fittings.

Those green-lipped mussels have a lot to answer for.

If you're looking to edit photos, I can recommend Paint.net - this is not the same thing as Windows Paint. It's a free download from here:
http://www.getpaint.net/index.html
although they suggest you make a donation. I'm using it on a desktop PC with Windows 7. I've found it convenient for cropping and resizing photos, as well as using it for something more complicated, editing an image for a book cover.

I have some photos hosted on Flickr, and on some forums I can link to those. I couldn't make it work on here, so now I crop and resize my cat photos so they're not too big, and add them to my posts as attachments. I made my Ria avatar with paint.net, first cropping a photo down to just the face, then resizing it to a width of 135 pixels, and resolution of 100 pixels per inch.

Thanks Mary - I'll have a go at that :)

Oops, Mousey doesn't want me to use both hands on the keyboard; she's learned to shove her nose under my left hand and lift it off...for my next trick I shall now stroke mouse with one hand and type with the other only it'll have to be all in lower case like archy the cockroach writing about mehitabel the cat lol :D
