Dog house

Post by Judy Barnett »

Just back from St Ives. Been to pick Georgia up, she howled at me all the way home. She's now 're marking everything in the garden. She also seems to have lost a little weight. I put her food down but she's only had a mouthful and then turn her nose up at the rest. She has however had a big handful of Dreamies so I don't think she's off her food I think she's just sulking at me. Any tips!

No not really, you'll just have to grovel a while until she forgives you.

Hope you had a great week, speak later.

Your loving sister. :D

The little madam!

I suppose, from a cat's point of view, it's great that she didn't turn a hair about going to the cattery, and that she didn't greet you on your return with bawls about saving her from Dotheboys Hall and fate worse than death and that she thought you'd never come back, sob sob etc etc!

Yeah, as Bobbys girl says, a few days of grovelling, and some extra special meals, she'll be yours again ... till the next time.

Blimey, that cattery must be 5* :D

Well, the sulking lasted approximately two hours. She's eaten her tea and come for a mega cuddle. She's now sitting on the windowsill in the bedroom trying to encourage a daddy longlegs to come and be her 'friend'!

Ugh, those things! I love all manner of creepy-crawlies and insects but those damn things ... I CAN pick them up, but would rather not, and when a cat catches one and gently puts it on the floor to play with, zooommm back it goes to dance on the ceiling. If only it would stay there, but it doesn't! A HUGE one got into my bedroom last year and I managed to bat it into the middle of next week, or rather behind a chest of drawers, as even Molly wasn't equal to it.

The next night, as I settled down for the small hours sleep gap with soothing book, the damn thing emerged, or its ghost did, dripping dust and cobwebs like Miss Havisham ...

Yup, you can keep daddylonglegses, as they say -

Nuns in the nunnery,
Cats in the cattery,
Bugs in the
Erm .... I mean erm

Bughouse!

Glad Georgia's let you out of the doghouse! :D

Hope Georgia's still behaving herself, bless her :)

With regard to the daddylonglegses, I seem to be plagued with skull spiders. Not the harvestmen (who aren't actually true spiders) with the circular pink body and long trembly legs, but skulls have a pear-shaped abdomen - and the long trembly legs. They like to visit me during insomniac moments (when Molly isn't available) and I've grown paranoid about the slightest tickle on a bare arm or face, which usually means a friendly skull has stopped by to say good evening ...

There was a huge whopper doing the breast stroke in my glass of water the other night ... well, had to rescue him so he's alive and well somewhere in the house.

  Nice one! That's why I can't sleep in a room with a cranefly

On the subject of dog houses, all of my lot are firmly in the dog house this morning.

I had just gone to bed last night when I heard OH moving furniture in the hall and muttering 'no, put that down, get out'. I guessed what was going on, Purdy had bought a mouse in, but to be perfectly honest, I was shattered after cutting hedges all day and did not want to scrabble around rescuing a mouse.

Then Willow, who was in her basket on the wardrobe, decided she wanted to go out. The door rattling woke me and I let her out. She had something to eat, came back in, went under the bed and threw up!

I got my usual wake up call from Bob who leapt on the bed and jumped right on to my still sore shoulder, oooof, ow.

To cap it all, when I got up, someone (probably Purdy) had pee'd on the cooker.

Don'tcha just love having a cat!

Peed on the cooker?? :o  Eeewwww!

I once heard of a cat who used to get up on top of the eye-level grill when it was feeling sick, and take aim at the ventilation holes ... that household NEVER cooked grilled food for years ...

Urrgh.

Do you cook pee soup, pissaladiere (mods the name for this comes from peis salat - salt fish! and it's a Provencale sort of peesa, sorry pizza ...)

And when you go into the bathroom and there's a cat stretched out and relaxing in front of the bog, do you use the old CATchphrase - can I have a P please Bob?

Ohhh noooo

Does she think they're a nice warm hammock? :o

Mind you, I'm regularly to be found with a python in my top or slithering around beneath the duvet - 'Where do you go to, my lovely, when you're alone in my bed?'

Not to mention the time when Emily was new and exploring the house; she was especially fascinated by my Victorian tallboy, so I did a video of her, with the voiceover of: 'You've heard of the cat's pyjamas - now these are Emily's drawers ...' :D
