cat not eating wet food

Post by dottycat »

Over the last few days my cat hasn't been finishing his kitecat. Is this normal? Should I try him on another brand. Also he doesn't drink water at all. The vet said that's ok because he gets water from his food but he's not eating it. He miaow s for it.

One of my cats refuses wet food completely however he does drink plenty of water alongside his dry food.
I find the others go off whiskers and then I buy Felix which they wolf down and then they decide they don't like the fish ones and then next week they do.

I sadly pander to them and keep going from one brand to another and then back again!

If he prefers dry food my friend makes a chicken broth that she leaves down like water as her cat won't drink water.

Ill get a different brand. I hadn't thought of chicken broth. I might try that.

It could simply be the warm weather making them want to eat less.

Oh boy, what a subject! First of all, don't panic. It may just be the warm weather, he could just be a picky puss.
Before his op. Bobby ate only dry food (Iams was his favourite) with plenty of water. Since his op. he won't touch any biscuit and will only eat wet food and very little water.
All the others go through fads with their food. We do vary their diets but it is very frustrating when you buy a couple of boxes of something because they seem to like it and then they all refuse to eat it or just lick the gravy and leave the meat.
When we first got Purdy she ate very little. We tried everything. Although healthy she was losing weight. One day we had prawns for tea and had some left over. She helped herself, wolfed them down and has not looked back!
Willow has a passion for custard (don't ask  ) and Thomas loves MEAT. Gracie just eats everything - that's why she is getting fat.

Bobbys girl - my cat sounds exactly like your cat. I bought some Felix yesterday but he licks the jelly and eats a small bit amount but he's still eating some nuts. Custard that's really weird but that's cats for you. Ill try some prawns. I tried some cat milk yesterday and he liked it yesterday but today he's not interested.

Tesco's frozen chicken breast strips go down well in this house, and are quite wet and soft when defrosted

Several of mine are leaving food at the moment, they usually do in hot weather.
