Silly Me!

Post by bobbys girl »

It's not been a good start to the day - or week! Our new, long awaited, kitchen was finished in the (very) early hours of last Friday morning. The cats took weeks of upheaval in their stride, disappearing when the fitter was on site only to reappear and survey progress when he had gone.

The old kitchen was never really 'designed' just thrown together over the years. It had miss-matched cupboards and lots of dead space. The sort of gaps you can't use but you can see the dust building up (and the feathers collecting  )

I am SO pleased with all the space, light, working areas, the fact that I don't have to climb into the cooker to light it (duff pilot light) and that salad in the fridge doesn't freeze anymore! :D :D

What I am not so pleased about is that Purdy can still somehow reach the microwave to pee on it, they seem to think the (new) kitchen table is purely for their own use and that Thomas has taken to sleeping on the bread board. The recycling bin is NOT a new litter tray ('recycle this') and that towels/tea towels are to be used for bedding. Willow seems quite put out that she no longer has a mat to slide across the floor on.

My OH said all he could hear for a good half hour this morning was 'get off, I've just cleaned that. That's just been emptied. Oh yuk, who did that? Come out of there! I'm going to trade the lot of you in for a goldfish!'

Altogether not the howling success I had hoped it would be. Still if that's all I have to moan about...... Right, moan over, back to the fighting! :D

Your house sounds like mine.
Try as I might I can't get my Ray not to go in the sink. That means I only one to wash dishes in. She don't care.... why don't they care about your stuff???

Edgar treats every part of our kitchen as his own, especially the work tops which are, after, nicely elevated dining areas, aren't they?! Why wait for your bowl to be put on the floor when you can get stuck in on the worktop. We just have to be careful when the cooker has been on and make sure that a saucepan of cold water sits on the rings until they have cooled down. I do smile when I see paw prints on the worktops and the hob.

In town last week, I was parked near a footpath. As I came back to the car I saw some folks pointing at the car and laughing. Mum, who had been waiting for me, said a few others had done the same. Then we realised what they found so funny - several trails of kitty prints up over the car and down the other side! It looks like we have been caught in a stampede. We are so used to it that we hadn't noticed.

Our cars look like that sometimes too! :D

It's bloomin' typical of cats to demonstrate just how little a stuff they give for precious moments like the first day of a brand new kitchen!

Congrats from me, anyway - it sounds lovely! :D
