ADOPTION PROCESS

If you want to adopt a Strawberry cat or go on our waiting list, please complete an adoption form available here: https://strawberrypersianpedigreecatrescue.co.uk/forms/Pre_adoption_form_April_2021.pdf

If your form matches a cat you want to adopt, we will get back to you to complete the matching process. A home check will be arranged to be done by a fosterer/volunteer living near you and we try to cover most places in England and Wales.
Our reservation fee is £50 for cats, this is refunded if home check is not a match, but not refunded if you change your mind. This deposit is then deducted off adoption fee if home check is a passed.
You can only reserve a cat for 2 weeks. Only exception to this is when the cat is not ready to leave us if they need more time with us. We cannot keep cats who are ready to leave, as we are small rescue and need our bedrooms etc. to help other cats; delays are not in the best interest for the cats.

We do use a volunteer team of transporters - so if you cover petrol, we can often get cats brought nearer or to you if you cannot drive. You will have to cover their petrol though, as we cover petrol collecting cats.

We do not rehome cats free of charge with no adoption fee.  We are all unpaid volunteers, and our vet bills are very difficult to cover every month. We also have medication to cover, food, cat litter trays, beds, climbing frames, equipment for fosterers, petrol to bring cats in. We assess a cat from its form, and from our experience of it in rescue or foster.

Cats are vet checked, spayed, have a vaccination including FELV (unless cat is allergic to vaccinations or some special reason not to vaccinate), chipped, groomed, flea and wormed. We have dentals done if our vet advises it must be done before rehoming, we do not do this on every cat - as it can cost us £300+ per cat. Any medical issue if found will be detailed to matched adopter.

We do not give any guarantee that a cat will never be ill in the future or will not moult hair in your home or scratch furniture, or that any cat will eventually be a lap cat in a new environment.  We get asked often for a free cat as they are doing us a favour in taking a rescue - unfortunately the bills have to paid as we cannot fund raise enough to cover bills. The adoption fee is our key to continuing our work saving the next cat that comes into our rescue.

You are adopting a living being and you are taking on their care for their lifetime through old age for the animal.

We often take elderly cats, even though they are the most expensive usually to get ready for rehome for us and their adoption fee is less.
