BARKS takes in stray & unwanted cats, kittens, rabbits & guinea pigs and finds them good, caring, approved homes. The animals are cared for by fosterers until new homes are found. Prospective adopters are subject to a home visit and an adoption fee is payable, (a non-refundable deposit is required if you wish to reserve a cat or kitten). BARKS receives no grants or funding, so all costs are covered by adoption fees, donations & fundraising.

This small home-run shelter concentrates on helping feral cats. Feral kittens can often be tamed and may be available for rehoming as domestic kittens. Adults Ferals are neutered, given any necessary vet treatment and returned to their colony.

They operate a non-destruction policy. All adult cats are neutered prior to adoption, and kittens are rehomed with a neutering voucher/contract. Young kittens are only rehomed in pairs to homes with no children under 5 years. Homechecks are carried out, and animals will not be adopted to homes on busy roads.
